Foodie highlight of gourmet proportions
As in previous years, more than 30 000 cheese enthusiasts will be heading to the South African Cheese Festival to delight in every kind of cheese you can think off – and probably more than a few you’ve never even heard of.
This year the festival starts on Friday morning and will continue through the afternoon, with live entertainment providing a festive ambience until 18:00.
As always, there will be other good eats to send your taste buds to heaven. And don’t forget to buy a glass to sample the superb array of wines on display. It will be the cheese and wine pairing of a lifetime! A glass will cost you only R20 and you’ll get much more than your money’s worth. Festival goers are also welcome to bring their own glass.
If you’ve never been to the festival, make this the year you tick it off your bucket list (of course you have one.) You’ll learn about ─and eat ─ boutique and artisan cheeses that can’t be found in your local shop. Ever heard of blind cheese tasting? Even if you haven’t, just take it as another legitimate excuse to indulge in more cheese than is strictly advisable, but certainly enjoyable.
The entertainment includes fantastic musical performances as well as cooking presentations by celebrity chefs. It promises to be a truly fantastic and exceptional event, filled with gourmet taste experiences and fun for the whole family!
The enjoyment of cheese is not an adults-only affair. There will be loads of fun activities for the kiddies, including farm animals, games and the Kids Zone. Life & Leisure will comfortably house your family for the weekend and we have a special rate during the festival. So, book now and get your cheese on!
