For us, the Toy and Miniature Museum is a fascinating attraction for all ages. It brings back childhood memories and excites young and old. Here you will find a captivating collection of 1:12 scale miniatures of railway sets, room boxes, dollhouses, stuffed toys, cars, kitchen items, furniture, and more. The 1:12 scale replica historic home has three 19th century upstairs rooms upstairs and three downstairs rooms. Pause and discover every miniature furniture item imaginable, such as tiny chests, antique cupboards, pots and pans, tea cups, four poster beds, grandfather clocks, cutlery, crockery, and even tiny plates of food on the tables. See if you can find the world’s smallest kitchen in a matchbox! Delight in the topsy-turvy doll, and admire the intricate miniature model of South Africa’s world famous Blue Train. The train travels from a replica of the town of Stellenbosch through the Cape Winelands and mountains to the Karoo before returning back to Stellenbosch again. In a dark room you’ll find displays of a motorbike workshop, an Oriental Carpet Shop, and a Stellenbosch backyard from 1690. Here the lighting is programmed to change from daytime light to night-time every two minutes. No matter how many times you visit, you are sure to discover something new. The Toy Museum is 1.3 km from Life and Leisure. It’s a 5 min walk.
